  • Z-Finder Pro with 2.5x optical magnification
  • 3 intermediate frames
  • Carrying strap for viewfinder magnifier
  • Cover cap and protective bag
  • 2.5x lens with 2 anti-fog shields

The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x is an optical viewfinder that makes it possible to give DSLR cameras the right form factor for video. This Z-Finder magnifies the LCD screen by 2.5x and has a diopter for targeted focus adjustment. It blocks out any extraneous light and provides an initial point of stability by pressing your eye against our comfortable, large eyecup. The Z-finder Pro 2.5x comes with a 40mm diameter lens designed by Zacuto, anti-fog protective caps and a mounting system for 3 inch LCD screens. (A 3.2 inch version is also available.) The diopter allows you to adjust the focus to your eye. If you need additional focus points, you can use the included Z-Finder Extender Frames. These are semi-permanent, stackable frames that attach to the body of the Z-Finder Pro and extend the Z-Finder glass further away from the LCD screen for farsighted people.

The 2.5x magnification is especially recommended for users who are nearsighted and may have difficulty seeing long distances. The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x has a diopter range of -4.75 and above (unlimited with extension frame). Users with 20/20 visual acuity can use both magnifications. It is a personal preference. This is the model we use with our electronic viewfinder packages. Your camera model does not matter when choosing between 2.5x and 3x magnification. If you are particularly farsighted (wear strong reading glasses) or are simply looking for the highest possible magnification, we recommend the Z-Finder Pro 3x.

The Z-Finder Pro is attached to your camera with the included Gorilla Plate V2 and the Z-Finder 3 inch mounting frame for small DSLR bodies. (The Z-Finder mounting frame can also be attached to our DSLR base plate. ) The Gorilla Plate V2 attaches to the bottom of your camera with a 1/4 inch 20 screw and has 1/4 inch 20 screw holes on the bottom for attaching a tripod plate. The metal Z-Finder mounting frame is attached to the Gorilla Plate with the included red thumbscrews. The Z-Finder itself can be attached and removed from the Z-Finder mounting frame. No magnets or adhesives are used. The metal Z-Finder mounting frame is lined with rubber to prevent scratches or slipping. If you want to remove the entire mounting frame from your camera, you can do so by loosening the thumbscrews and pulling up on the metal mounting frame to release it.

Includes one installed and one additional anti-fog lens. This also serves as a lens protector and is dispensable. We also have anti-fog wipes.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. All Z-Finder bodies are the same size and can fit any of our frames. The Z-Finder Pro 2.5x comes standard with a 3 inch Z-Finder mounting frame for small DSLR bodies. This will fit a standard DSLR camera with a 3 inch screen such as the Canon 5D MII, 7D, T3i or the Nikon D3000 or D5100. All other frames must be purchased in addition to the Z-Finder. You can also purchase a la carte frames for large cameras, battery grips, 3.2 inch LCD screens and our adhesive frame as well as a Z-Finder Pro 2.5x bundled with a mounting frame for small body DSLRs with 3.2 inch LCD screens (Canon 5D MIII, Nikon D800).

2. The threaded holes on the bottom of the Gorilla Baseplate are offset from the center of the Lens for use with some of our devices. This is only an issue if you are using the Gorilla Plate with other rigs that do not have lateral movement and need the matte box in line with the Lens/mount screw hole. To compensate for this problem, you can either use a self-adhesive mounting frame to attach the Z-Finder or add a Gorilla Plate Adapter to your plate. The Gorilla Plate Adapter centers the tripod holes on the underside of the Gorilla Plate. Please note that this adapter comes with a longer 1/4 inch 20 screw that will replace the smaller 1/4 inch 20 screw that comes with the Gorilla Plate. You will need to remove your screw and use the longer screw that comes with the adapter to secure your camera to the plate.

3. the Gorilla Baseplate covers the battery door of the Canon T2i/3i/4i camera. If this is a problem, we recommend using the adhesive frame.

4. In order for the Gorilla plate and mounting frame to align correctly with the LCD screen, the plate must be directly under your camera. This means it cannot be used in combination with L-brackets such as Really Right Stuff or camera specific contour plates such as Arca Swiss. You can use an adhesive frame on your camera with our Z-Finder and continue to use your camera-specific plates as usual.

5. Panasonic LUMIX Notes: A Z-Finder in a package with a mounting system for the GH3 is already available.

WARNING:
The Z-Finder is a magnifying glass and as such it magnifies the sun and could damage the LCD screen if the sun shines directly through the Lens of the Z-Finder. This is not a defect, but a physical property. Be careful to avoid direct sunlight. Proper use of the supplied lens cap and sun mask will significantly reduce the risk, but cannot eliminate it.
