Lens caps are a useful accessory in the field of photography.
They are primarily used to protect the lens glass, but can also take on additional tasks. For example, there are caps from D?rr with a manual white balance function.
Devices from brands such as Canon, B + W or Fujifilm are available in various sizes to suit the lens and with different mechanisms for fastening. Covers with a plastic claw, such as those from Kaiser, are practical and can be detached from the lens by simply pressing them together. Some of these quick-clamp caps are also attached to the lens with a safety cord to prevent loss. Lid holders from Bilora, which are worn as a body strap, are also suitable for this purpose. Back caps from JJC or Leica protect the lens when it is not mounted on the camera. Accessories such as holders from Hama, which can be attached to the camera strap, provide an additional storage place for the caps. Lens caps from Panasonic, Olympus or Nikon with spring hinges for automatic opening prevent the ingress of dust or splash water and protect against knocks and scratches.
